About Established in 1883, Rustlings Lawn Tennis Club is the oldest tennis club in Sheffield. In 2007, we shall have been on our present site, situated on the corner of Collegiate Crescent and Victoria Road, just off Ecclesall Road for a proud 119 years. When the Club was founded in 1883, it occupied the area now known as Endcliffe Park.
The statue of Queen Victoria reputedly stands on the site of the original Rustling’s courts. In 1889, we were founder members of the Sheffield and District Tennis Association, and have had a unique record of unbroken membership to the Association since. The club has five all weather tar macadam courts, which have recently been resurfaced and offers year round tennis.
In addition to participating in the Sheffield and District Tennis Leagues, the club has a very active social programme, with play continuing throughout the winter. From late spring to autumn, we host several social tournaments. These are always popular occasions though perhaps that has something to do with the delicious lunch that is included! |
